Principle :

In a half-wave rectifier, the diode conducts during the positive half of the cycle and therefore only the positive portions of the input sine wave appear across the load. As a result, the output is practically made up of half sinusoids (ripple) superimposed on a DC component. The factor in a half-wave rectifier circuit is determined by measuring the DC output voltage and the rms value of the ripple voltage by using appropriate voltmeters.
